Description
Shift Starts at 5 PM to 2 AM

Objective: To be responsible for prepping, packaging & icing product, and placing all product on correct trucks in order to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the department with emphasis on accuracy, quality and customer service.

Status: Reports to Seafood Supervisor. Must maintain working relationships with Shift Supervisors, Co-Workers and Runner/Loaders.

Responsibilities:

Pack Seafood orders assigned: Pack items accurately, matching Labels with items exactly. Box items properly, to maintain product integrity, and minimize damage in shipping. Use recycled boxes whenever possible. Remove all stickers from previous shipments. Build boxes as needed daily, stock all dry supplies, remove all trash from cooler – provide support for Seafood Cooler Runners. Confirm all labels are affixed properly to outside of box. · Perform daily HACCP procedures per Seafood Supervisor.

Consolidate product into as few boxes as possible, maintaining product integrity, and minimizing possible damage. Stack product on the proper pallet in the staging area. Stack product securely on pallet, to prevent product from falling off of pallet, when pallet is moved to dock area for loading

Notify Seafood Supervisor of out-of-stock packaging materials, problems with packaging & poor quality packing ice.

Stock products as necessary on a daily basis per Seafood Supervisor.

Provide cleaning assistance to Cooler Lead during weekly and daily Seafood Cooler cleaning cycles.

When goods are damaged, or found damaged, report product description and amount to the Supervisor, to insure proper handling of damaged goods in a timely fashion.

Handle all equipment safely and properly. Do not operate any power equipment that you have not been certified to operate. Report defective equipment and hazardous conditions immediately to a Supervisor.

Develop work habits which are courteous and consistent with safety guidelines – good hygiene is required.

Maintain work area and warehouse in a clean, orderly and safe condition.

Perform other duties assigned by the Seafood Supervisor.

Education / Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Prior seafood or food preparation experience helpful.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours week including nights, weekends, and holidays when needed. 2nd shift position starting at 5:00 pm. Must be able to work overtime when needed. Ability to read and write.

Frequent (34%-66% of the time) lifting objects 50 to 75 lbs. Frequent (34%-66% of the time) carrying, pushing/pulling objects 50 lbs. Occasional (11-33% of the time) climbing stairs or ladders. Seldom (1-10% of the time) kneeling/squatting, crouching/kneeling and sitting.

Constant (67%-100% of the time) Ability to work within an environment where there is constant exposure to damp, wet, refrigerated atmospheres. Occasional (11-33% of the time) working in temperature of a Freezer warehouse can range from -20° to -10° Fahrenheit.
